拿起來,放不下,新年第一本一口氣讀完的書

A foreigner's observation of China's bureaucratic infightings and managerial inefficiency, this book is a must read for aliens considering doing business in China.

作為一個在中國大陸工作瞭十六年的花街投資者，Tim Clissold懷著極大的誠意與善意記述瞭他接觸的人和事。他熱愛中文，請人刻過一方印，上書“落紅不是無情物，化作春泥更護花”；他不無敬佩的描寫中國人的聰明狡猾，彪悍現實，以及野心勃勃；他親眼目睹十幾年來中國的巨大改變，並心懷敬意；他深味這個國傢的眾多不足與無奈，卻對未來充滿信心。在本書的結尾，他寫道：“如果通過此書的創作，能令中國人看上去不是那麼的神秘可怕，而是和我們一樣有缺點卻又美麗的人類，那麼我之前所經曆的一切麻煩都很值得。”

作為90年代初最早一批來中國投資的歪果仁，一邊是美國成熟商業體係下大型投行的職業經理人，一邊是中國內陸鳥不拉屎的山溝裏計劃經濟體製下工廠的負責人，作者在兩路人馬迥異的經營與處世風格夾縫中之艱難求生曆程，我看著都替他腦殼痛。最精彩的部分當屬同時和好幾個投資工廠中的牛鬼蛇神鬥智鬥勇的故事，讓人看到剛改革開放時，麵臨經濟巨大轉型時社會其他方麵滯後導緻的各種問題，其實很多現在依然存在。

確實揭露瞭我國短視不講信用一麵的不堪，但是作者雖然來中國學習中國文化找機遇卻不能放下身段，那有所吃虧和氣氛就在所難免，書中大部分都在寫中國的短處，但是作者之所以堅持這麼多年還不斷的擴大投資說明他還是嘗到甜頭的，但文中卻隻字未提，難免偏頗
