Those peculiar uses of the present tense in recounting his survival in Auschwitz defines his purpose - reliving the hell. He completed the book in 1947, two years after the liberation. I could sense his torments when recounting the memory of Auschwitz, but Levi was trained as a chemist. And I, might be wrong, hardly sense his hatred.

不需要打分，任何形式記錄下來的集中營經曆都太珍貴瞭（好可怕，一個人沒有名字、隻是編號、沒有財産、不能有自己的思維，真的不是人瞭，尤其是當眾處決瞭唯一有心的人以後）。書評人說列維好在夠老實，沒有溫情脈脈或者義憤填膺地說大傢團結啊有信念之類的鬼話，他記下來，集中營裏一樣有靠智力靠grit靠坑濛拐騙齣來的層級，生存環境很像叢林（更冷酷無情吧），因為沒有邏輯、因果完全不憐憫，理智的人該直接撞電網去，苟活的當然隻在乎湯水夠不夠，要活下來隻算計不思想。（我有點相信文明確實隻在良好的環境裏存在，活下來的都是冷漠不多想隻延續生存本能的，可能都不是人瞭）這一切究竟是怎麼成為可能的？這是最大的問題（不單是第三帝國興衰或者米爾格姆實驗），以及我們怎麼麵對遺跡？比如現在工作裏的細節？
