菲利普・罗斯（Philip Roth），1933年出生在美国新泽西州的纽瓦克市，被认为是当代最杰出的美国犹太裔作家之一。罗斯以短篇小说《再见，哥伦布》崛起，在过去的十年间，他已赢得美国多个主要文学奖项，1998年更是凭借《美国田园诗》一举获得美国普利策文学奖，电影《人性污点》即由他2000年出版的同名畅销小说改编，他也是近年来获诺贝尔文学奖呼声颇高的作家之一。

我承认，第一次阅读是把它当作一本洛丽塔式的色情小说来看的。 今天早晨吃完早点，从床头的一堆书中偶然抽出这本，再次翻看，发现开篇的“一切都有待艺术来拯救”竟然是孙甘露先生的文字，不免又起重新阅读的念想，索性揣包里带到公司。由于今天是第一天上班不会很忙，找了个安...

故事的作者是一个年过七旬的教授，而作为读者的我，刚好是年轻的上过大学的女生。看着这个老男人以他的角度、他的感受来讲述这个也许是真实的故事，刚开始多少有点恶心（原谅我的思想跟康秀拉一样古板），慢慢的（作为现阶段我只是看到的感情问题），发觉这个老男人很可怜...
