這本書含杜威的兩本書。其中school and society 是杜威的經典之作。由於我自己對基礎教育興趣有限，關於課程設置和基礎教育的部分讓我一度又一度放棄這本書。我更喜歡杜威democracy的那本，應該也更有名。

還是Jackson的introduction 爆瞭很多料啊，杜威實驗學校的失敗和該學校的意義。其中講到lab school之所以能一直維持下來很大程度上是沾瞭大學的光，變成大學吸引faculty和維持社區的中産階層化的要素。我們lab school 也被打臉瞭。。。

碩士時讀中文版，驚嘆的是他闡發學校與社會的雙嚮關係；博士時候重讀這本書的英文版，更關注“學校中的浪費”這個章節，我覺得他簡直天纔性地塑造瞭一種到今天還無法完全實現的學校形態。粗糙地講，便是我們的教育到底是學生繞著學校轉，還是學校繞著學生轉。這是一種非常偉大的內部革命。
