看得出作者为了写这本书下了很大的功夫，各种背景知识和社会历史文化的考证引用，基本都有出处。文笔也很好，并不会让人觉得枯燥。观点也相当客观。我对当时Nantucket整个社区或者当时整个社会对获救船员的反应和对待觉得很惊奇。好书，强烈推荐（英文版）

能够浸没体验的书都是好书。虽然看了两遍但每次翻开都有新发现，感觉还可以再看多两次。这本书也没有传统的主线，只是通过延伸情景展示内部联系和碰撞。准备看同名电影了。
