維多利亞的成長小說，女人成長到最後也還擺脫不瞭男人，Madame Beck多驕傲的人啊，仍然渴望著結婚。社會現狀如此，不是小說傢的責任。小說裏充滿瞭窺伺，會是個極佳的話題。成長小說的敘事語氣也很有意思，在這方麵，這部小說可以算是一個範本。

雖然不喜歡勃朗特傢族中的大姐（可能是因為不喜歡簡愛的緣故），但不得不承認她的文筆是三姐妹中最優雅純熟的。小說可以寫的如詩歌一般美，而且把這世間的愛恨情仇寫的細緻但不做作。個人認為結尾章簡直堪稱維多利亞時期最美的小說結局。

Pre-proustian名不虛傳，我指內心戲和囉嗦方麵。語言確實很不錯，法語也是結構必須。但，就是喜歡不起來這種收的感覺，就如同很難那麼喜歡伍爾夫一樣....對我來說亮點都是她稍微放縱的地方，比如走嚮鏡子的誤會，比如迴答保羅的"Oui!"
