2013.6.3 想说的话有太多，而我该如何开始？世界上有两种书，一种是翻了几百页，每句话都看了，但是都看不进去，像看糊了一张面具的人们唱戏。还有一种是从第一个字开始，每一个标点符号你都知道为什么会出现在那里。人物的所有心情，你早就懂得。书里每一句话你都恨不得抄下来。你和这本书的相逢仿佛是命运的注定。这就是我读Edith Wharton的心情。如果把她比喻成美国的张爱玲，读她的人会不会多一点？但是我觉得她的文字比张爱玲积极多了。她笔下的小尊严和小虚荣，有小悲怆，但是亦不乏小小的诗性正义。对Lily的宽容是，最后Sheldon仍然爱她。对Sheldon的残忍是，直到她生命的最后一刻，他仍然没有完全懂她。这也许就是Wharton对两性的理解。
