故事展开挺神的，没想到最后居然讲的是一个女人的自我成长。印象最深的是这句：It seemed to Mrs.Ransome that she had been robbed twice over, by the loss, first, of her possessions, then of the chance to transcend that loss. 这个理念很新颖，只可惜后面圆的不够满，给出的解释可以更好。从人物来说，Ransome夫妇一下就让我想起了posh nosh里面那一对，虽然更bourgeois一点男主也要改改取向。阅读过程还是很有趣的。
