Berlin 1942
When Bruno returns home from school one day, he discovers that his belongings are being packed in crates. His father has received a promotion and the family must move from their home to a new house far far away, where there is no one to play with and nothing to do. A tall fence running alongside stretches as far as the eye can see and cuts him off from the strange people he can see in the distance.
But Bruno longs to be an explorer and decides that there must be more to this desolate new place than meets the eye. While exploring his new environment, he meets another boy whose life and circumstances are very different to his own, and their meeting results in a friendship that has devastating consequences.

评分沒想到是部悲劇，不過小Bruno的智商及作者的曆史知識著實令人捉急，這也就是為何此書在goodreads罵聲一片
评分2.5。略失望。進程很慢，到瞭一半左右纔齣現“the boy in the stripped pyjamas”。寫法也比較低齡生硬，看到N次“嘴巴張成o型”的描寫。男主太傻白甜，9歲的孩子應該知道點什麼吧，又是在如此特定的曆史背景下。最後兩人手牽手被趕進毒氣室是沒想到，悲虐。這娃到死還是不明白這是為什麼吧。
评分第一遍看電影在高一時候最不喜歡的tok課上，那時候不懂曆史二戰，不懂人間疾苦，做到瞭完全和bruno一樣的視角，什麼都不知道，不好。第二遍在大一焦慮癥時候看，苦難體會的太淋灕盡緻，太過感性，這也對號入座，覺得自己就像活在集中營一樣無助觖望，太矯情，不好。現在，以歡愉的理智，緩慢的讀完全書，發生這是一本及其剋製壓抑的書，書中太多內容電影中沒錶現齣來。父親和gretel對傢人的深情，母親的物欲和虛僞，爺爺和奶奶兩種人對一種事的態度反差。非常精彩，最簡樸的話，最深刻的錶達。非常之喜歡，避免曆史悲劇的最好方法就是多個維度細細琢磨一個曆史事件。這兩年讀的第二本英文原版，給自己加油。五星好評，妥妥的。
