克里斯托弗·普瑞斯特，1943年出生于英国。1965年开始发表短篇小说，至今共著有九部长篇小说及两本短篇小说集，代表作包括本书《致命魔术》及《倒转的世界》、《分隔点》等。1983年曾获选Granta杂志“英国二十大年轻作家”之一，同年入选者有“布克奖”得主石黑一雄、《撒旦诗篇》作者拉什迪等等。普瑞斯特也执导过电影并改编剧本，曾将大卫·克伦贝尔执导的电影《X接触》改写成小说。他获得过雨果奖提名，并四获“BSFA英国科幻小说奖” （1974、1978、1999、2002），以及“世界奇幻小说奖”。

结局满诡异的,电影和书的情节相差很大

Sacrifice, that's the price of a good trick.

很多人觉得Nolan把全书提升了一个档次，我不这么认为。原作对于作品中人物的性格刻画更加细腻，而且书里的描写更像有血有肉的人。就连Julia，Olivia等人的性格都刻画得非常好。此外，Nolan的改编明显是偏向Borden的。尽管谋杀的加入激化了戏剧矛盾，但是我觉得原作对二人结局的处理更加人道。。。
