'"night, Mother" is a taut and fluid drama that addresses different emotions and special relations. By one of America's most talented playwrights, this play won the Dramatists Guild's prestigious Hull-Warriner Award, four Tony nominations, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and the Pulitzer Prize in 1983. "'night, Mother "had its world premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in December 1982. It opened on Broadway in March 1983, directed by Tom Moore and starring Anne Pitoniak and Kathy Bates; a film, starring Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek, was released in 1986.

评分分两天把这个剧本读完，第一天期盼着伴随着真相的展开，也许结局会逆转。第二天读的时候全程提着一口气，母亲依然是那个自恋的母亲，Jessie到死都在寻求对自我生命的主导，想起了winnicott提出的true self and false self, Jessie一辈子都活在false self之中，反哺照顾母亲的各种需求，找不到真正的自我。Jessie的自我了结是对真我的追寻，或者又是对母亲的恨，对母亲的终极惩罚？从母亲的角度，这个自杀的行为轨迹是可以被干预的吗？也许可以，也许不能
评分知道這本書是某日知道了同名電影的存在，又得知張國榮喜歡。二月十一日借 三月十幾號才開始看吧 續租了兩次 四月九日讀完。最後有關鍵的兩小段沒怎麼讀懂，所以不是太清楚她為何那樣。第一本英文書。
