乔治艾略特论机智诙谐一点不输王尔德，但她有王尔德没有的宅心仁厚。这是我看过的最喜欢的英文小说，有托尔斯泰的心理洞察和奥斯汀的俏皮机灵。

太长了，印象最深的是书里几对夫妻的关系，有相互理解和支持，也有的完全无法沟通，所有的尝试都成了徒劳，对婚姻悲剧的刻画相当精彩，读的时候真觉得喘不过气来。
