生於黃金海岸（獨立後為加納）一個農民傢庭，天主教徒，1960年來到中國學醫學，先就讀於北京語言學院，後入北京醫科大學。1962年春，作為在華非洲學生聯盟（African Student Union in China）的秘書長，在一個非洲學生和一個非洲孕婦被中國人群毆後（“阿裏事件” Ali Affair），與一些非洲學生一起自發離開中國。

1963年因持不同政見，離開加納，在尼日利亞任教。其後行狀不知。

本書紀錄瞭六十年代在華非洲留學生的生活、學習和政治運動。作者記敘並評論瞭在華非洲學生內部矛盾、緊急事件中非洲學生與非洲國傢外交官的矛盾、中國的外交和留學生教育、北京市民的種族偏見、中國學生與非洲留學生關係、北京的日常生活。提供瞭1962年3月發生在北京和平飯店的阿裏事件及其後在華非洲學生聯盟反應的第一手資料。

作者在書中屢次稱中國和蘇聯為新的殖民主義和帝國主義勢力。
