彼得·埃森曼，1932年生於美國紐約，相繼求學於康奈爾大學、哥倫比亞大學，並於劍橋大學獲博士學位。埃森曼是當代世界最為傑齣的建築大師之一，1967年，他在紐約成立著名的“建築與都市研究所”，成為新現代主義理論和後現代主義理論的研究中心。1970年代，作為“紐約白色派”五人之一，他開始在建築界嶄露頭角，其後的著名設計項目House Ⅵ、Wexner Center for the Arts Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe、 City of Culture of Galicia 等獲多項國際奬項，如古根海姆奬、美國藝術與文學學院的BRENNER奬等，他還榮獲第九屆威尼斯雙年展的金獅奬終身奬(2007)。埃森曼還是一位思想傢與教育傢，曾先後在劍橋大學、普林斯頓大學、耶魯大學、哈佛大學任教。他還是紐約COOPER UNION 的首位IRWIN S. CHANIN 傑齣建築學教。他主編《反對派》雜誌。他的著述包括《紙闆住宅》《圖解日記》《完全的埃森曼》。
