玛琳娜·柳薇卡（Marina Lewycka） 英国文坛近年来最炙手可热的畅销书作家。“二战”结束时出生于德国基尔难民营，父母均为乌克兰人。她在英国长大，居住在谢菲尔德，任教于哈勒姆大学。58岁时柳薇卡借《乌克兰拖拉机简史》一书一举成名，赢得2005年波灵格大众伍德豪斯喜剧小说奖和机智小说奖。2007年出版《英国农民工小像》，延续其黑色喜剧的风格，并于2008年入围乔治·奥威尔奖。

这是一本故事情节挺曲折的书，讲到一群国际农民工一起去英国摘草莓，然后引发的一系列的趣事。小说开篇生动有趣，中间惊险刺激，最后结局圆满，但是整本书读下来并没有陷入俗套的情节当中。 里面的国际农民工身份各异，除了乌克兰人、波兰人、罗马尼亚人、保加利亚人外，竟然...  

也许是在封面读到的吧,像作者以前在中国有译作的〈乌克兰拖拉机史>一样,里面描写了一些粗俗而低下的人,然而读的时候颇出乎于我意料之外,首先是文笔,不知道是译笔的典雅有误,还是原作作者本来就用的是一种优美的文风，我从书的内容看不出半点粗俗，特别是前面一半的内容老让人...
