一字不落地看完，很好的入門書。在Leiden的頭三個月學的。當時看的超級痛苦，藏文的名字很難記。不過Peter爺爺超級和藹，我essay提交出了岔子也沒有扣分。上他的課總有一種人就在西藏的祥和感。最後一學期下來其實學到很多，還在課上認識一個藏族大哥。

第4、5章集中关注的是藏传佛教和藏地以及地缘政治经济间的互惠关系，勾勒了几代教主在蒙古、明朝、满洲政权之间的周旋，以及建立在国外资助、军事支持基础上的藏地宗教-政治一体的治理传统。言外之意，建立在此传统上的藏地要么去宗教化，要么就只能通往独立。对宗教领袖形象的描写比较去神圣化，感觉就是一路靠忽悠邻居发家致富的，这么说来现任教主就算没被流放，大概现在也在周游列国和金主谈笑风生。。

感到还不错，Kapstein作为佛教研究者，对经济社会问题给予那么多关注。不过白老师对这本书评价很低，说有很多错误，这算是间接黑史老师么。。另外，他圣作为形象大使在书封面后做的那个广告语言结构好混乱。。。
