这本书要和DOROTHY KO的TEACHERS IN THE INNER CHAMBER和MANN 的PRECIOUS RECORDS放在一起读，能读出从17世纪到19世纪以江南精英女性为切入口看到的中国的宏观变化，从情到文到世俗事务，女性史纠正了许多从政府和男性学者角度出发而建造的固有印象，带领我们看到真实的日常的女性和他人的生活图景。以及这本书的文笔好到我哭了两次，我觉得，此生如果能够写一本像这样的书，真的是无憾了！！！！！！！之后会详细写一篇三本书在一起的书评的（其实是学期论文啊，嘻嘻）

a big part of the book is imaginary construction, thus is very readable and engaging, particularly the first chapter. The other two have some repetitions. An addition to the history of women, but not as good as The Death of Woman Wang.
