对Peter Gay的一些批判

语言上是连美国人都觉得dense的书，文体上基本算一篇对Peter Gay著作的critique，查着字典看完了的第一感觉是，启蒙运动都那么久了，信星座的还是信，赶紧回想一下Skinner的鸽子实验，启蒙之路还长得很。知识的产生大概也是对人性的挑战。敢于提问的人，真的很伟大。

研究启蒙运动的恢弘著作如Peter Gay之大作The Enlightenment固能全面展现启蒙运动之特征与狭隘，而近代思想史家PORTER的这本小书以较小篇幅把十八世纪各国启蒙运动之共性与个性以及其中包含的问题要言不烦地指出，实乃作者功力所显。关于启蒙运动的教科书式、贴标签式的种种浅见和误解在此得到一定澄清。本书是本非常好的关于启蒙运动的入门读物，书末的参考书单更是颇有价值。
