这本书豆瓣上竟然没人读过？如果想要知道为什么伊斯兰主义在中东社会扎根如此之深，甚至为什么（比如在埃及）在世俗政权控制了ulama阶层之后伊斯兰复兴主义仍然会在社会中出现（且是以一种更为极端的方式），我们有必要关注社会的发展史，因为问题的根源不是在于伊斯兰本身对西方世界的不接受，而在于他们在两个世纪的接触中接受了太多失败的经验。当然历史本身仍然不说明问题，更严重在于中东各国政府对社会的控制没有穿透力，没有能够消除旧有的统治阶层，没能建立足够的以及legitimate的文化霸权，对于形形色色的阶级和宗教势力更多采取expedient的妥协平衡而不是institutional的解决方式。
