Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. In Annihilation, the first volume of Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy, we join the twelfth expedition.

The group is made up of four women: an anthropologist; a surveyor; a psychologist, the de facto leader; and our narrator, a biologist. Their mission is to map the terrain, record all observations of their surroundings and of one anotioner, and, above all, avoid being contaminated by Area X itself.

They arrive expecting the unexpected, and Area X delivers—they discover a massive topographic anomaly and life forms that surpass understanding—but it’s the surprises that came across the border with them and the secrets the expedition members are keeping from one another that change everything.

很多隱喻，很多坑，但是沒有任何的明示或者暗示。一直是靠懸念來推進的故事劇情。我看過電影，少不瞭依靠對電影的理解來理解原著。相比電影的人直接刺激感官，原著中女主的心理描寫有點太多，很多沒啥意思，看起來有點枯燥不是很喜歡，據說第三第二集也不是很高，所以打算棄...

這本像是個長引子，隻挖坑不填，讓我想到當年追的Lost。不過，男女主角的感情綫還是很吸引我。夫妻之間的感情總不比情侶之間的清晰明瞭，有些像懸疑小說，你到底還像以前那樣愛我嗎？我們結婚是為瞭什麼？我們是不是還是比較適閤一個人生活？整個探險，都是因為愛情。比較打動我的地方是，女主找到老公的筆記，看到裏麵夾著樹葉池塘照片這些她纔喜歡的東西，纔發現，他們竟是如此相愛。所以，當我看到電影裏麵居然弄瞭個婚外情，讓我很生氣。

從來沒看過一本科幻小說寫的如此美麗又極度恐怖。夢囈一般的描寫，以及非常自省內嚮的生物學傢主角。特彆喜歡主角講到自己喜歡看鸚鵡螺上麵的幾何圖案，感到一種可以預測的熟悉，又感到一種下一秒就墜入未知的恐懼和暈眩。原來描寫“寄蜉蝣於天地，渺滄海之一粟”可以有這麼朝“裏”看的展現方式。這樣一本書，電影改編的不錯，但是還是隻能展示冰山一角。
