Randall Munroe is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller What If?, the science question-and-answer blog What If, and the popular webcomic xkcd. Randall was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, and grew up outside Richmond, Virginia. After studying physics at Christopher Newport University, he got a job building robots at NASA Langley Research Center. In 2006, he left NASA to draw comics on the Internet full-time, supporting himself through the sale of xkcd t-shirts, prints, posters, and books. He likes candlelight dinners and long walks on the beach. Very long walks. Over-simplification lowered the quality of this book.

应该完全是给小学三年级以下的人看的，任何稍微懂得相关术语的人再看这本书时都不得不费力思考这些simple words所指涉的概念，这大约就是沃格林说的语言的分殊化是个不可逆的过程——没有人愿意在知道更准确表达方式的前提下仍然忍受一般化和弱智化的表达。

It was mentioned on Gates Notes, so I took a look. It's indeed a good book. I wish it was published when I was little. It's fun to read, and more importantly, it makes sense of things. Thing explainer.
