最大的贡献显而易见是数据。为了写这本书作者还特别去考了STEP证，花了6年时间逐步进入财富管理这个圈子。素材丰富，观察也很细致，很有启发性。但起码对我来说问题是理论的匮乏。作者提到本书的理论贡献：不平等、家庭、全球化、职业化、政治经济学，都是泛泛而谈。我其实很喜欢第六章谈跟国家的关系，「创造性服从 creative compliance」，但也就是浮光掠影，可惜。职业化那个就别提了，如果STEP是成功的，那些不成功的经理人呢？那些没有组织起来的经理人呢？但是数据独特，恰好抓住「全球top1%」的话题。

可读性很强的一本书。作者通过在“财富管理”这一领域8年的田野调查和职业经历，揭示了这一职业是如何帮助那些1%们通过各种金融工具避免财富损失，实现代际传递的。更为深刻地是，作者透过这一视角，展现了金融市场同国家之间的关系，不平等的生产过程，以及这一职业是如何合法化（职业化）的过程。获奖实至名归。
