开头很是阴郁，却没有发展为一味沉湎自恋很难得。口音太不好适应了，听着能记住名字的角色一个个排除了嫌疑很担心最后会是个想不起来是谁，还好也是个记得的人。

四星半的老派侦探小说，对比近几年的girl系列，Harper算是三观最正的了，没厌女情节，没变态psycho，没泥潭般的阴霾，至少感官冲击还算克制。悬疑主要在文字间筑成，在回忆与现实中交互推进。能看出作者环境记者的经历，干旱的场景无处不在，衰败的农村、局促的社交圈、因干旱而处在崩溃边缘的人们，带着密不可知的过往与无以凭靠的未来前行...很多人在澳洲火灾中重温了Harper的这部处女作，读罢会期待她的新作
