说说鬼故事不算什么，难得的是作者能将诡异的超自然世界与阿根廷Dirty War时期国家恐怖主义的黑暗历史、布宜诺斯艾利斯郊外充满贫穷暴力的社会现实以及女性地位等问题放到同一个维度来审视，好看好读又不失恰到好处的社会批判。title story更是以极尽夸张的手法刻画了一群与当年英国的suffragettes遥相呼应的女性。她们以某种极端的方式（不剧透啦）来回应男性世界femicide的倾向，反抗男性对女性身体的刻板审美标准。整本书颇有些蒲松龄《聊斋》的味道，写鬼却不止于鬼，处处可见阿根廷过去与当下的幢幢阴影。
