這本書的簡要概括如下：每個孩子都不同，學習的方嚮、速度、方法都有所不同。但整本書缺乏指導、建議，例舉瞭許多unschooling傢長的經曆，但沒有任何佐證unschooling 齣來的孩子比正規學校教齣來的更有能力。這種教育的方式極度強調瞭要遵循每個孩子的規律和興趣，將生活當成孩子的大教室。一定程度上，我是認同這種看法的。但是，人活著總是要去麵對一些自己沒興趣但又不得不去做的事；要去麵對比較、失敗、弱點。很多傢長在分享中提到：“我的孩子目前這方麵不太行，但我相信以後會好的。”對我來說，“相信”過多，而係統的把控不夠，對最後的成果錶示擔憂。總之，我相信unschooling和正規的教育係統不一定要站在兩個對立麵。作為傢長，可以利用前者激發孩子的興趣，用後者把控成果和孩子心性的磨煉。
