第二遍，斷斷續續兩天看完。中間幾度要無聊到昏睡過去...culture is JUST taken for granted—先上來說devotion schema is culturally constructed, 但又不說這個culture到底是什麼。換句話說這個田野要換個non-western語境，北美學者一句what is culture, why is it important 直接斃掉。全書細碎且多到記不住的grounded theory式案例，作者似乎也沒有想對話private/public distinction文獻的意思，gender部分老生常談毫無新意。社會學寫作什麼時候又能脫離研究者的政治立場？若是真的脫離又怎麼能精彩？相比之下Hochschild同題材書真的好一大截。

呼應當下中國密集型母職的興起。不是人類學的寫法，篇幅略拖遝，核心部分的案例比較更適閤寫成論文。
