文/小胖一我嚮來很少看外國書。學生時代，那時候有大把時間看書，看的更多的也是中文書。我總覺得看外國書太費勁，一是翻譯總會失去一些味道，二是總感覺外國人名記不住，就像看電影一樣，可能看完全書，隻知道誰是誰，就是不能完整的叫上名字。美劇也拍不齣這本書裏警...

終於在2015讀完瞭這本書！David Simon is a brilliant writer. 三觀特彆現實，筆觸細膩，時不時的黑色幽默令人捧腹。難怪是能寫齣 The Wire 的大神啊！這書裏的警局沒the wire裏黑暗，讀瞭詳盡的後記以後瞭解瞭更多context。如果說 The Wire 講的是 institutional inhumanity, 這本書講的是在這個瘋狂世界裏那麼一些性格各異的個體 work on their duty. "Honorable lives spent in service of a lost cause." 除此以外，庭審紀實的部分讀來又緊張又滿足，不遜於任何一部影視的法庭戲。寫驗屍過程的部分冷靜而詳盡。雖然不是很快能讀完的書，但不能更有收獲。

前後花瞭半年看完。最後10%邊聽著Oblivion的原聲邊讀，音樂起伏和劇情走嚮無縫銜接，激動難抑。在這個黑暗的角落，獸性、人性、神性交織錯綜，這些detectives邊插科打諢用黑色幽默抵抗生命之脆弱人性之邪惡人生之無意義，邊堅持不懈在重重官僚下做瞭他們認為應該做的事情，和火綫裏那句A man's gotta have a code一樣，叫人起敬。Luckily, it was David Simon who told their story. 此緻，敬禮。
