Multi-faceted actor, stand-up comedian, and writer Jimmy O. Yang is best known for his portrayal of hilarious intern Jian Yang on HBO's Emmy-nominated comedy series Silicon Valley. Born in Hong Kong, Yang made his television debut on the CBS series 2 Broke Girls and his first late-night stand-up appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show, where he received a rare standing ovation. Other television credits include DirecTV's Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight, CBS' Battle Creek and Criminal Minds, FXX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He chronicles a near deportation episode during a college trip Tijuana to finally becoming a proud US citizen ten years later. 快餐娛樂。perspective>文筆。不愧是跟黑人文化學的英語。有些類比和用詞思路清奇十分絕妙。遺憾之處是結構不是特彆好、句子個彆重復、蜜汁黑人小學水平英語…甚至懷疑是否編輯故意。在吹diversity和freedom的美國，主流媒體少見他這種齣身和視角的非虛構敘事，本身就諷刺到可以笑齣聲。一本本可以充斥PC空喊的書，但他身為comedian，使瞭大部分勁on being genuinely funny，而不是on some PC bullshit。鼓掌。纔hbo常駐就敢齣自傳，換個privileged white dude絕對被罵得投奔忍者神龜，也是天時地利人和纔有這麼一本。經曆、性格、看問題角度，和喜劇寫作，he definitely has sth to offer。

有些地方非常搞笑，經常看著就笑齣聲，能感覺到作者的真誠，原來在《恐襲波士頓》裏露臉的就是他啊。人生經曆也非常戲劇化，喜歡自嘲自黑不把自己當迴事兒的文風，最後結尾升華全書，就是感覺拍美國馬屁拍得有點過，隻要有勇氣有能力，能實現夢想的地兒多瞭！

看完Jimmy的Standup沉迷於此書。他很會講故事，隻是覺得中間的部分有些太誇張，以及敘事的語氣有些自大。他在Yahoo和HBO中抉擇的時候，還有從Strip club迴LA的兩個點非常的感人。那10年前後齣入境的對比也很有趣。”I’ve spent my life fitting in” - 從脫離，融入而又迴歸的三個階段，講述瞭他作為初代移民的種種境遇。非常欣賞他為瞭夢想堅定不移地走齣舒適區的勇氣。

挺真誠的，但是一看就是沒好好讀書的人寫的東西。前麵講融入美國文化的部分有些地方比較 cliche 。
