第一遍印象最深的几点：(1)nationalism =/= patriotism.前者是aggressive而后者是defensive。（2）不管是communism, political catholicism, zionism, trotskyism 或者pacifism都可以同时是nationalist（nationalism无关立场左右，socialist也可以同时是nationalist，甚至叛国者(eg anglophobia)也可以同时是nationalist）。（3）nationalism是transferable的，一个英国人可能nationalism的对象是俄罗斯。一个人nationalism的对象并不一定是此人国家，可以是任何（甚至没有）的对象。（4）obsession

奥威尔这篇里的nationalism其实可以推至任何强烈identify于某种群体（并无条件认为该群体优于他者）的人群，毕竟该人群的目的是“secure more power and more prestige, ...for the nation or other unit in which he has chosen to sink his own individuality”。文中提到的nationalist的主要特征（obsession, instability, indifference to reality）跟最近的某事件联系起来看也格外有趣。另两篇（反犹主义和体育精神）算是第一篇的某种延伸吧，体育那篇格外毒舌。
