During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. Andre Aciman's critically acclaimed debut novel is a frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion.

Suddenly One Summer By STACEY D’ERASMO Published: February 25, 2007 This novel is hot. A coming-of-age story, a coming-out story, a Proustian meditation on time and desire, a love letter, an invocation and something of an epitaph, “Call Me by Your Name...

It talks to me, moves me, shatters me, paralyzes me. How words can be so powerful I should know now. To say it's just a love story would diminish it. The author has constructed the fictional world with such acute and abundant description that the nuance, to some people seems verbose, while to others make all the difference. Personal, yet universal.
