此书与《飘》是平行发生的故事，它与《飘》不同的是，主要以瑞德为主线索而进行讲述。这本书还给《飘》一个完满的结局。我认为它比《斯佳丽》写的要好一些，但没有《飘》写的精致、细腻。它的故事情节、人物心理都略显粗糙。不过对《飘》迷来说，值得一读。
