From Library Journal Although this book will obviously appeal to die-hard General Hospital fans (it features two main characters on the show), it is more importantly a fictional account of a relationship between two heterosexual teenagers, one of whom is HIV-positive. Through the entries, General Hospital scriptwriter Pinsker captures the character of Robin Scorpio, a bright, spunky teenager on the brink of adulthood. Like most adolescents, Robin can be mature (i.e., she is devoted to her studies) but at times is irresponsible and deceives adults to get her way. The work chronicles the romantic relationship between Robin and Michael "Stone" Cates, a former street kid. As their relationship progresses, the two become involved sexually. They do not, however, always practice safe sex because Stone had tested negative for HIV after leaving the streetlife. Unfortunately, the test was performed too quickly after he had been exposed to the virus, and he is soon experiencing the typical symptoms of HIV. After Stone's condition is made public, the characters receive support and criticism from all sides. Pinsker does not judge the characters' morality but instead provides a tragic story through which parents can teach children about the dangers of unprotected sex.
