A terrifying campaign of violence has
begun. Bombings and killings throughout
Europe sound a warning that Abu Nabil, a
Palestinian terrorist, is about to make a
final demand. A hijacking will soon take
place--a hijacking that will force the
world to pay attention because the
terrorists are prepared to blow up the
plane and all the men, women, and
children on board. Nabil has the support
of two powerful men: Walid Haddad, the
ruthless killer who will make it happen,
and John Kenshaw-Taylor, the Foreign
Minister of England, who has agreed not
to stop it.
And then there are the innocents: A
Jewish family called Zubko--mother,
father, a small boy, and an even smaller
girl--have finally received their exit visas
from Russia, but they will be trapped on
the doomed plane. Helpless children
everywhere are caught in the crossfire of a
political war. In England, a mother hears
the tiny voice of a girl, speaking the words
of a Dylan Thomas poem in a silent plea:
