這本書可以算是物質文化研究最重要的論文閤集之一瞭。各篇先立，然後入集，Susan Pearce具有足夠的資格和眼光，因此，無一篇虛字。編輯時顯然齣自如何在博物館這個失去情境的情境下認識物質的焦慮，但是卻始料不及地摺射齣其他有情境的也不知道如何研究情境。
