“We must learn to suffer more.” 艾略特是剋製的，聖徒的，冷靜又殘忍的。他知道人承受不瞭多少真實，還扔給你一堆真實。你在斷頭颱前扭過頭，艾略特把你的頭扳迴去讓你看。想起《時時刻刻》裏伍爾夫的一句話：你要把人生看透，一定要真實地麵對人生。寫到這裏我又想起艾略特一句詩：you cannot face it steadily. 你無法平穩地麵對它。

和the four quartets應當是差不多時間寫的吧一樣貫穿關於時間，future & past & changes的思考 - 雖然有不少criticism但應該是Eliot三個play裏麵我最喜歡的一部對話和戲劇性和語言/chorus的balance相對最舒服
