利用泰勒的現代性框架（基督教，啓濛運動，浪漫主義）來理解佛教在當代世界的傳播－－但這裏有一個問題，作者的實證資料幾乎全部取自北美西歐。而在東亞現代性的形態恐怕是顯著不同而無法照搬泰勒的概括。不過無論如何此書好書。
