比较Euclid与Desargues的两种不同的几何学那段实在看不懂，不过全文也有警醒作用，流行于现代的透视学也并不具有完全合理的几何基础，或许若干年后的人们看透视学，也会像如今我们看希腊几何学一样，觉得莫名其妙。

第一版1946年，雖然從頭至尾都沒有提Panofsky, 很多想法其實與潘氏很接近，就是Ivins對於希臘藝術的厭惡實在是令人髮指。其中寫開普勒和Desargues的兩段很有意思。
