斯坦利·艾林（Stanley Ellin，1916年10月6日－1986年7月31日），美国侦探小说作家。艾林出生于纽约的布鲁克林区，在成为作家前，曾任职教师、钢铁工人、乳牛牧场农夫等，二战时从军上了战场。

1946年，艾林在妻子的支持之下，创作了短篇处女作《本店招牌菜》（The Specialty of the House），这篇作品受到埃勒里·奎因的赏识，获得了第三届埃勒里·奎因推理杂志征文比赛的短篇推理特别奖──最佳新人作品。此后，艾林在其作家生涯中获奖无数，1955年获得美国侦探作家协会所颁发的爱伦·坡奖。1975年获得法国侦探文学大奖。1981年，美国侦探作家协会授予他终身成就奖。

这本书的故事有点老。故事的风格有点黑暗，大多以道貌岸然的“正人君子”进行残忍凶杀为主线。因为是短篇，以结局反转取巧的作品占比也很高。故事可以归为悬疑惊悚。 按照编辑宣传语的说法，本书作者开创了流派，很多作家深受启迪。正是因为创作时间实在很早，影响的人又有点多...
