中日各一種，一種是詩，另一種是能樂謠曲，都非常重要。簡明之中是可以出韻味的。

1915年从日译本翻译的英译本，有很多啼笑皆非的错误，比如《送元二使安西》不是李白写的，比如《登金陵凤凰台》不是在长安（Choan……），最要命的还是照抄了日译本里的“Ko-Jin”而完全失去了“故人”这个古诗中非常重要的关节所在。
总体来看的话……只能说英文完全翻译不出古诗的美，翻译完之后竟然感觉自己在读艾略特……在这个意义上，温伯格说，美国现代诗是中国古诗的产物，其实也不无道理。
