Atkins' research includes the fields of theoretical chemistry, particularly magnetic resonance and the electromagnetic properties of molecules. He spends virtually all his time writing books, which range from bestselling college textbooks to books on science for general audiences, including Galileo's Finger (Oxford, 2003); The Periodic Kingdom (Basic Books, 1997); The Second Law (W.H. atkins都齣科普瞭，範爺爺也齣一本？ | 就一本書介紹瞭上百個生活可能會遇到但是我們不會意識到的分子，我覺得是很棒的一本科普著作；可惜我在大陸卻很少看到這樣的作品，更少一線的教授或者是所謂的教學名師有齣此類書記。北大CCME之前齣過“分子共和國” 不過內容真是參差不齊。
