奇瑪曼達•恩戈茲•阿迪契1977年齣生於尼日利亞南部城市埃努古，父親是統計學教授，母親是大學教務。阿迪契起初在尼日利亞大學學習醫藥學，後轉至美國，在東康涅狄格州立大學學習傳媒學和政治學，之後在約翰•霍普金斯大學獲得創意寫作的文學碩士學位。

阿迪契寫過詩歌和劇本，並時有短篇小說在文學雜誌上發錶，多次獲奬。2003年，她的首部長篇小說《紫色木槿》（Purple Hibiscus）齣版，故事以一個15歲孩子的視角，講述瞭20世紀90年代尼日利亞的政治騷亂。小說入圍2004年橘子小說奬，並獲2005年英聯邦作傢奬。她的第二部長篇小說《半輪黃日》（Half of a Yellow Sun），講述的是尼日利亞內戰爆發之前和期間的事。小說獲2007年橘子小說奬。2010年，阿迪契入選《紐約客》評齣的“二十位四十歲以下的小說傢”。

完全沒跳齣提到在美國的尼日利亞人時腦海中浮現齣的關鍵詞大多數人物仿佛都是臉譜化的幽靈為瞭說教而存在

Adichie的第三部作品，一部短篇小說集：地點不再局限於尼日利亞。各種各樣的小人物和小故事被收錄其中，通過介紹婚姻來到美國的伊博族女人；有著自己獨特信仰世界的同性戀男子；在煩悶的夏季看著自己哥哥在爬樹的宗教儀式上死去的少女；在美國和非洲兩地做生意，卻背叛婚姻的丈夫。一本滿是碎片的書。

The only flaw, if I may, is that there’s too much Adichie in her characters at times. In other words, her characters don’t seem to enjoy full liberty to be themselves, to express their extensive range of emotions and deliberations, or to explore possibilities when mired in predicaments.
