【自由開火地帶：美國海豹突擊隊越南戰記（刊登於《譯林》2010年夏季增刊）】此書更像美國特種部隊的徵兵廣告，充滿瞭越戰時代的陳詞濫調。說是紀實，作者Kevin Dockery似乎對武器裝備更感興趣，對內河登陸艇、突擊艇、直升機的性能介紹不厭其煩，另一方麵，對海豹突擊隊在越戰中的實例描述雖詳細卻明顯著力不夠，十幾次重要的戰術分析均極其單調和膚淺。另外，戰術再成功，也無法掩蓋美軍的戰略失敗，這是兩個層麵的問題。（翻譯甚佳。）
