The aim of this book is to take the science of oil chemistry from a dead end where it was placed by the attempts to explain the nature of oil colloidal particles on the basis of the inefficient symbiosis' of electro-chemical considerations and organic chemistry. For this purpose, the authors apply, to oil chemistry, quantum mechanics, homolytic dissociation, discovered by Homberg in 1900, and critically review the results of physical methods of chemical analysis in application to oil problems. In conclusion, they clarify the main differences between oil-like systems and objects in organic and inorganic chemistry, i.e. they formulate the fundamental aspects of oil chemistry.
