In the 10-20 years, there has been revolutionary change in cosmetic dermatology, which is the treatment of non-malignant skin disorders. Once the province of the surgeon and applicable only to patients who had the resources to undergo invasive surgeries for these problems, it has now become a part of every day dermatology practice available to a much wider range of patients. The percentage of non-white patients who have cosmetic procedures is rising, and so is the need for dermatologists to know how to adapt these procedures and treatments to skin of color.
