Wandering through the bush country of Australia at eighteen years of age, I heard many tales as I sat by late-night campfires. Some were stories of Aborigine life, some of the traveling carnival life. Still others were of the white manas struggle to survive in this beautiful yet unforgiving land. In this book, I have taken some scraps of the Aborigine myths that I still remember and blended them together into full stories. Other stories are my own, written in that same style. Where the one leaves off and the other begins is not important to me anymore. Each story, each character, has a life of its own and I like to leave it at that. These stories are not meant to be read alone. They are meant to be read aloud by parents to children, by children to parents and to anyone else you care about.
