老奶奶的短篇像是从长篇上头掐下来的一两章或者有发展成一个长篇的潜质，当然也有恰到好处的几篇。好几个故事的背景都在国外: 澳大利亚，法国，伊斯坦布尔(两篇)，新西兰，墨西哥，还有苏格兰(当然这个不算)，时代也比较远，加上文字略拘谨，难怪有人会不喜欢。不过我爱她文字里头的那股"静"气，下笔端严，甚至有时候会有点"涩"，但是内核却是轻逸的，这点和门罗刚好相反，门罗的文字是流畅好读的，但最后的意思却是重的，两者我都爱极。
