欧内斯特·海明威（Ernest Hemingway，1899—1961），美国小说家，1954年诺贝尔文学奖获得者。1921年，在巴黎结识庞德等人；1922年，早期作品遗失；1923年，在巴黎出版第一本书《三个短篇小说和十首诗》，受庞德鼓励，写下十八则片断（前六则同年发表于《小评论》）；1924年，将十八则片断结集为第二本书在巴黎出版，即《我们的时代》（in our time）；1925年，将十四个短篇小说和之前出版的片断集重新整理成书在纽约出版，即《我们的时代》（In Our Time），此书成为其第一部杰作。之后，此书版权转至“天才的编辑”麦克斯·珀金斯所在的斯克里伯纳出版社，再版时补入《士麦那码头上》（初为作者前言）。

只读了很小的一篇，soldier's home。海明威的文章对英语不好的人来说简直是福音。喜欢。

为了校对《美国现代主义文学选读》才看的，以前就看过一篇Indian Camp，这篇短文也是我读过的第一篇海明威的作品。除此之外还推荐Three-Day's Blow, Cat In The Rain以及My Old Man这三篇文章，海明威一直声称In Our Time里的故事都是彼此呼应的，但细细读来并非完全如此，有些故事不成体系，适合单独跳脱出来欣赏，有些则确实有着一定的联系。Indian Camp算是整本小说里最惊艳的作品了，同样是平铺直叙的语言，海明威却能用如此短的篇幅描写出生与死的冲撞，最后Nick Adam问父亲生与死的对话精炼，却意味深长。Like Nick siad, "He felt quite sure that he would never
