这本书侧重R语言实战，以实际项目讲解R的若干常见应用场景。适合新手上路。本书亦可作为统计方法实战教程，回归、方差两章展示了完整的统计分析的过程。比较欠缺的是，这本书已经有些年头了，这些年R已经发生了很多的变化，统计也同样发生了很多的变化。
