John le Carre was educated at the University of Berne (where he studied German literature for a year) and at Lincoln College, Oxford, where he graduated with a first-class honours degree in modern languages. From 1959 to 1964 he was a member of the British Foreign Service, serving first as Second Secretary in the British Embassy in Bonn and subsequently as Political Consul in Hamburg. He started writing novels in 1961, and since then has published twenty-one titles.

想来，喜欢勒卡雷的和不爱的当属两级，会觉得他枯燥的和会为之动容的都有其道理。但静下心来，毕竟是会觉得他文字的好，感动一丝丝的聚积，在那微波荡漾的行文里。倒数第二章几乎是大爆发似得男女主人工的互诘，关于间谍这一档的锥心刺骨之寒。

勒老师啊勒老师，捅刀圣手。情节设计太精巧，丝毫没想到的感觉太好了。这部是勒老师的第三部小说，也算是成名作，但很多他在其中展现的思想，他11年的访谈里仍然没变，也是到今天仍然不过时的想法。啊，被虐得好爽。

勒老湿描写Liz的部分简直是高端琼瑶:梨花带雨,紧握的手,苍白的微笑.Liz/Leamas呼应Karl Riemeck/Elvira,前期暗示甚多.一转到戏肉,Leamas和Peters开始交锋的场景,手段、视角和心理不断在二人之间转换,comfort given and pride destroyed,借此演绎一般质询的流程.到孤狼Fiedler出场,反而分外和谐,双方逐步自掘坟墓.言辞间透露东德人的教条激动和英国人的愤世嫉俗.Mundt和Control的手段有何不同?以国家安全之名执行冷血,蔑视一切人性,东西方皆然.审判室风云突变,从Fiedler的慷慨激昂急转直下到Mundt的嗜血凝视.柏林墙筑起的时代阴影.勒老湿倾注自己生活和职业的失意孤独,在诡谲痛苦的情节中为自己重建精神秩序.
