I was intrigued by the TV show. The theme is really novel, and I tried to keep up with the TV show, but find it hard because of its slow pace and seemingly lacking of answers. Then I came across the book, which is great in lots of ways. It gave me the ability to finish it in one sitting, allowed me to grasp the whole picture. ps it's interesting.

先看了剧再回头来看的书，更喜欢剧。剧和书在讲不同的东西。剧探讨的是人与人的关系、信仰、意义这些挺“终极”的话题，所以看的时候会陷入巨大的虚空。而这本书，尤其看到结尾，你发现，哦，原来是要讲，人总会从trauma中开始recover的。也难怪有那么多小镇生活琐事的描写。不过书倒是比剧更真实接地气。故事的设置是departure三年后，你能想象到人们该有的挣扎、创伤、痛苦都应该已经开始从顶点退潮，人们像模像样地开始新生活，小心翼翼地回避departure，但它又无时不刻地爬回你的脑子里、生活中。书里把这些呈现出来了，而剧里的冲突更多，每个人都还深陷在各种纠结中，比较像在讲departure一年之内的事。
